In the hot environmental industry growth market, environmental data is a key component to progress of the construction and environmental remediation business, says Michael J. Beckerich, President and CEO. With York’s role at the hub of environmental data analysis and management, Beckerich offers three success keys to getting more value in industry-laboratory relationship.

#1 – KNOW YOUR DATA QUALITY OBJECTIVES

To ensure you receive what you want when you need it, tell us exactly what you need up front. If you’re unclear in some areas, that’s OK, simply communicate with our client services team and project managers as a project kicks off to review the project, outline your data deliverables and client requirements. This will ensure success. We can deliver reports in every format, but we want to know before testing and analysis, not afterward.

#2 – FILL OUT THE CHAIN OF CUSTODY PROPERLY

The Chain of Custody is a legal document that needs have all critical information completed with a clear timeline. If you have questions, we have answers! The most common issues we see with incomplete CoCs that cause delays and project complications include:

  • Lack of specificity about the required analysis and the type of report you need.
  • Who gets the report and who should receive the invoice?
  • What date was the sample taken
  • Ensuring that the sample ID’s align with sample jars.

We can deliver on projects accurately and on time, but not when the Chain of Custody is inaccurate or missing vital information.

#3 – BE REALISTIC WITH YOUR CLIENTS

Manage expectations and don’t over promise what just can’t be delivered. Communicate realistic turnaround times for your clients by talking with us about the project, needs and goals – ahead of time. We’ll also help you understand how to leave enough time for unexpected issues that may arise – often do.
